Personal projects

A collection of all my hobby, and free time projects related to game design.

We created the game around the theme "Lost and found". By literally making a mechanic around this theme you have to find and collect fireflies that you eventually give to the lost toad. If he is fed you will enter the new level and continue onwards.

I worked on the background and tiles for this game. It was a hassle since they had to be interesting but not distracting from the original goals of the game. As you can see eventually worked out just fine, you might even catch some easter eggs in and around the levels!

A very wise wizard is looking to feed his pet toad, can you help him through the night?

The Lantern game was created during the 2021 Dutch Global Game Jam, The game placed top 6th by the online Itch.io voting out of 93 entries because of a high average scoring on all subjects.

Check the game out yourself and help our old wizard friend a little hand:

BEAR WITh ME

Together a polar bear and a penguin find themselves stuck in an ice cavern. To get home, they must cooperate in solving puzzles.

With the 2019 theme "What home means to you" we created a co-op, puzzle game that can only be played by two players!

If you have a friend at your side or just want to give it a whirl, you can try the game out here:

This project brought a lot of variety in assets to the table, I have mainly been working on the puzzle and foreground assets.

Interestingly enough we worked with a creative paralyzing solution to give brought perspective to the scene. Having foreground assets, a middle playing field, and a drawn background gives the feeling of a grand cave.

Although only one level was made there were plans for further exploration and puzzle mechanics. Maybe in a future spur of the moment, the bear and penguin will find that exit!

All alone in a submarine, your mission is to get as deep as possible and try to beat the record holder. Be careful though because there is more than only water in those depths!

This 48th LudumDare Jam was a blast to work on! I helped a big chunk with the concept, doing sketch work for the overall theme and play features.

I wonder how far you can get, and let me know if you beat any records!

Crazy monsters and a seemingly infinite loop you might be stuck in? Try to get out if you dare!

A rogue-like arcade game made during the 47th LudumDare Jam. We created this weird concept because we did not want to put any boundaries on the process and from there figured out where it went.

I worked on UI and a couple of small assets during the game jam, making sure the player understands what they can do and what the goal of the game is.

Go birth some monster and fight the good fight!

Extra Nice Art Collab

The Extra Nice art collab is a collaboration where many artists participated in creating a pixel-art painting.

The idea behind the project was that everyone in the Extra Nice discord server could join and take a tile number (1-265) or challenge someone to do a tile, when you were done with one you could go to the next. Eventually, the tiles would come to border each other and had to have a fluent transition.

The end result shows a wonder of many different easter-eggs, styles, and other creations all done by the drive of a community. I myself had much fun working on some of the tiles and have done a total of 46.

From time to time there is a fun new challenge to do at the Extra Nice server and everyone is free to join!
